Recognize what the business needs, and keep doing the work with excellence. Also, make sure your contributions are seen. Many critical roles in organizations – Finance and Accounting, Data Management, IT Support to name a few – aren’t always front and centre. Yet, like the crew behind a blockbuster movie, none of it works without you. No spotlight, no red carpet moment, without the people behind the scenes making it all run.

Own Your Value

So, to those of you in the “back office,” don’t just do the work—bring awareness to the value you’re creating. Speak up. Advocate for the impact you’re making. Remind them how lucky they are to have someone like you steering the ship from behind the curtain.

And – just in case you need a little nudge – remember to dial up your friendliness. It costs nothing and builds everything. Make the effort to see and connect with the people you support. Strive to like and be liked. You’re not just delivering services, you’re building relationships.
